To create a #desktop #shortcut:

Step 1: Normally, when you install #PacketTracer on older versions of Ubuntu, the desktop shortcut is not created by default. Even if created, it will not work properly.

Step 2: First, open the terminal and check if the program works with the packettracer command.

Step 3: Now, open the file manager and open the location Home / opt / bin and you will see a file with the desktop extension there. Copy that file and then paste it in local / share / applications location.

Step 4: After copying the file to the relevant location, open the terminal in that location and open the file with the gedit command.

Step 5: Now change the Exec and Icon position to opt / pt and save the file.

Step 6: Finally, change the permission rights of that file.

Step 7: You can see that the icon of the shortcut in the Applications location has been improved. Copy that file and paste it on the desktop.

Step 8: Check if PT works via shortcut.
