To do #VLAN #routing on the #switch:

Step 1: First, add a Cisco Switch and Router and six computers to the Packet Tracer workspace.

Step 2: Connect all the computers you added to the Switch and connect the Switch to the Router.

Step 3: Create 3 VLANs as VLAN10, VLAN20, and VLAN30 according to the network topology in our video tutorial.

Step 4: Write down the management IP addresses, port numbers, and group information that you will assign to the VLANs in the work area. Doing this makes it easier for you to design your network.

Step 5: Configure the TCP/IP settings of the whole computer and check the network connection by pinging PC0 in VLAN10 to the computers that are members of other groups.

Step 6: As you can see in the topology, the Switch is connected to the Router with only one cable. So you need to configure Router on a Stick. This means creating subinterfaces under a single interface and managing them virtually.

Step 7: Open the CLI command prompt of the router and go to the GigabitEthernet0/0 interface connected to the Switch and open the port, but do not assign an IP address.

Step 8: Now, to create a subinterface on the Router, execute the commands in the 4:02 time frame in order. The numbers next to the port number are optional when creating the subinterface, but if you write the numbers of the VLANs here, it will make more sense for your network design.

Step 9: After defining the subinterface, assign IP addresses according to the subnet structure of the VLANs you have created and execute the encapsulation dot1Q (VLAN Number) command to encapsulate the data packets.

Step 10: Create subinterfaces on the Router for other VLANs and assign IP addresses.

Step 11: In the enable mode of the router, you can check the subinterfaces with the show ip interface brief command.

Step 12: Now, test the network connection by pinging from computers that are members of different VLANs, and when you check the result, you will see that the ping process is incorrect. This is because the connection between Router and Switch is not configured as Trunking.

Step 13: Now execute the switchport mode trunk command in the config mode of the interface of the Switch to the Router. After this process, test the network connection with ping.

Step 14: With Packet Tracer, you can subscribe to our YouTube channel for more videos on Cisco Networking training!
