To better understand the #Access #Port functionality:
Step 1: First, open the Packet Tracer simulator program and add one Cisco #Switch, three computers, and one printer to the workspace and cable all devices.
Step 2: While doing network designs with PT, taking notes on the workspace helps you understand the network structure better. Therefore, take note of the interface ports and assign addresses from a special IP subnet to the devices you add.
Step 3: Now execute the switchport mode access command in the config mode of the relevant interfaces in the CLI to add the devices connected to the Switch to the access mode.
Step 4: Create a new VLAN with vlan 10 command on the switch and rename it in config mode with name IT.
Step 5: Execute the switchport access vlan 10 command in config mode of all interfaces.
Step 6: You can use the show vlan brief and show interfaces switchport commands in enable mode to verify your actions.
Step 7: Add another computer to the work area and configure the port you connected the PC to as ACCESS on the SW again.
Step 8: Create a new vlan and likewise make this PC member to the VLAN20 you created. Then the operation you try to ping the computers in the VLAN10 will fail because there is no Cisco Router or Layer 3 Switch in the network environment.
Step 9: The main purpose of this video tutorial is to show that when configuring VLANs, the Switch interfaces that clients connect to must always be configured as ACCESS.
