How to Delete Games on PS4 & Free Up Storage Space
3Your PS4's storage can fill up quickly with games, updates, and screenshots/videos. Deleting games is the primary way to free up space. Don't worry, deleting a game does not delete your save data for that game (unless you specifically choose to delete it later). You can always re-download or reinstall games you've purchased.
Here's how to delete games and free up storage space on your PS4:
I. Deleting Games (and other Applications)
There are two main ways to delete games:
Method 1: From the Home Screen or Library (Quick for Single Games)
This is the fastest way to delete individual games you see on your home screen or in your game library.
Navigate to the game you want to delete on your PS4's home screen. If it's not on the home screen, go to Library, then find the game under the "Installed" tab.
With the game highlighted, press the Options button on your controller (the small button to the right of the touchpad).
A side menu will appear. Scroll down and select Delete.
A confirmation message will appear, letting you know that the application will be deleted. Select OK.
The game will now be uninstalled from your PS4's hard drive.
Method 2: Via Settings (For Multiple Games or to See Storage Use)
This method allows you to see how much space each game is taking up and delete multiple games at once.
From the PS4 home screen, go to Settings (the toolbox icon on the top bar).
Scroll down and select Storage.
Select System Storage (or "Extended Storage" if you have an external hard drive).
The system will calculate your storage usage. Select Applications.
You'll see a list of all your installed games and applications, along with how much space each is occupying.
To sort the list (e.g., by size to find the largest games), press the Options button on your controller and select Sort by.
To delete: Highlight the game(s) you want to remove.
To delete a single game, simply highlight it and press Options, then Delete.
To delete multiple games, press the Options button and select Delete from the side menu. Then, you'll see checkboxes next to each item. Check the games you want to delete.
After selecting your games, select Delete on the right side of the screen.
Confirm your decision by selecting OK.
