How to Find Missing or Deleted PS4 Games (Best Method)
It can be frustrating when games go missing from your PS4, whether they were accidentally deleted or simply aren't showing up. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to find and restore them:
1. Check Your Game Library (Most Common Solution)
Often, games aren't truly "deleted" but just uninstalled from your console's hard drive. They remain in your account's digital library.
Go to your PS4 Home screen.
Scroll right to the Library icon (it looks like a stack of books).
Inside the Library, navigate to Purchased. This section lists all digital games you've ever bought or acquired (including PlayStation Plus monthly games, free-to-play titles, and demos) under your current PSN account, whether they are currently installed on your console or not.
Browse through this list. If you find the missing game, select it and choose Download to reinstall it.
2. Restore Licenses
Sometimes, your console might lose track of your ownership rights for digital content, causing games to disappear or show a padlock icon. Restoring licenses can fix this.
From the PS4 Home screen, go to Settings (the toolbox icon).
Select Account Management.
Choose Restore Licenses.
Follow the on-screen prompts. This process can take a few minutes. Once complete, check your Library again.
3. Check Your Primary PS4 Activation
If you game share or have multiple PS4s, ensuring your current PS4 is activated as your primary console can help ensure all your owned content is visible and playable.
From the PS4 Home screen, go to Settings.
Select Account Management.
Choose Activate as Your Primary PS4.
If it says "Activated," you're good. If not, select Activate. If you have another PS4 activated as primary, you'll need to deactivate it first (either remotely via the PlayStation website or directly on that console) before you can activate the current one.
4. Check for Hidden Games
You might have accidentally hidden a game from your library.
Go to Library- Purchased.
Press the Options button on your controller.
Look for an option like "Show Content Items" or "Check Hidden Content Items." If you find a hidden game, you can choose to unhide it.
5. Check Your Transaction History
If you're certain you purchased a game but can't find it anywhere, verify the purchase in your transaction history.
On your PS4, go to Settings - Account Management - Account Information - Wallet - Transaction History.
You can also do this via a web browser: Go to the PlayStation Store website, sign in to your account, then go to your profile icon - Transaction History.
If the game appears in your transaction history, it confirms your ownership, and you should be able to redownload it from your Library. If it's not there, you might have purchased it on a different PSN account.
6. Switch PSN Accounts
If you have multiple PlayStation Network accounts (perhaps for different regions, or a shared family account), a game might be linked to a different account than the one you're currently logged into.
From the PS4 Home screen, hold down the PlayStation button on your controller.
Go to Power - Switch User.
Try logging into any other PSN accounts you might have and check their Libraries.
