About this video: This is a complete guide on how to download and install Minecraft Maps on Mac. This will show you how to get any Minecraft Map that you want on Minecraft Java Edition for MacOS. I think you will be very surprised how easy it is to install a Minecraft world on Mac, and after it is installed, playing a custom map on Minecraft for MacOS is even easier. So, let’s go ahead and do it!
The first step is downloading a Minecraft Map for Mac. The good news is that you don’t have to worry about downloading the right Minecraft custom map as all Minecraft Java Edition maps will work on MacOS. You can find a link in the description above to 15+ maps for Minecraft that will work with Mac Java Edition. They also have the versions that the maps are built for listed. When you find the map you want, click the download link and go through the download process.
After you have your map downloaded, you will want to make sure it is unzipped. Most of the time, MacOS does this automatically. Just make sure that when you open your folder you see DIM1, DIM-1, etc. If you do see those folders, you are good to go. If not, clicking until you do, then press the back arrow, and move that file to your desktop. This is the folder you are going to install.
To install a map on Minecraft for MacOS, open the Minecraft launcher, click ‘installations’ at the top, hover over your Latest Release installation and click the folder that appears. This where all of your Minecraft files are located. Open the ‘saves’ folder, and drag-and-drop the Minecraft worlds you downloaded into this saves folder. You have now installed Minecraft worlds on MacOS. Just make sure that you see the folders mentioned above as soon as you open the folder.
Finally, open up the Minecraft Launcher, select Single Player, and the Minecraft maps you install for Mac will be there double click them to play them like any other Minecraft world.
