How to Duplicate a Video Layer in Premiere Pro CC (Keyboard Shortcuts)
Visual layers such as a video can be easily duplicated in Premiere Pro. There are two primary methods used to duplicate a video. The first method is to simply copy and paste the layer. This involves selecting the video you want to duplicate and press Ctrl + C on a PC, or Command + C on a Mac to copy the layer. The layer can then be duplicated by moving the playhead to a blank section on the timeline and pressing Ctrl + V on PC, or Command + V on a Mac.
Alternatively, a duplicate video can be created by dragging the video to the side, or onto another track inside of Premiere while holding Alt, or Option on a Mac. Doing this will instantly create a duplicate layer of the video in the new position. A video can be duplicated as many times as you like. The Alt/Option drag method is particularly good when creating subtitles as it allows you to quickly duplicate custom text and edit them.
