How to Enable TPM 2.0 On your Windows 10 or 11 PC (Bios Menu)
Enabling TPM 2.0 on your Windows 10 or 11 PC is essential if you plan to upgrade to Windows 11. TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 2.0 is a crucial component for security features like Windows Hello (for identity protection) and BitLocker (for data protection). Let’s walk through the steps:
Check Your Current TPM Status:
First, run the Windows PC Health Checker to see if TPM 2.0 is detected on your PC.
If not, proceed to the next step.
Access BIOS/UEFI Settings:
Reboot your PC and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings. You can usually do this by pressing a specific key during startup (common keys include F2, F10, or Del).
Navigate to the security tab.
Enable Trusted Computing:
Look for an option related to trusted computing or TPM. It might be labeled as PTT (Platform Trust Technology).
Enable the trusted computing option and select PTT as the TPM device.
Save the configuration and exit the BIOS/UEFI.
Verify TPM Readiness:
Run the tpm.msc command in the Run dialog (press Windows Key + R).
Check if TPM is ready for use.
Additionally, go to Windows security settings and verify that the security processor is providing additional encryption.
Recheck Windows 11 Compatibility:
Run the Windows PC Health Checker again to ensure your PC now meets Windows 11 requirements.
