Video Transcript:
Do you find yourself swimming in data, looking to streamline your Google Sheets spreadsheets by removing or identifying duplicates? Whether you're managing a large contact list, analyzing survey results, or keeping track of inventory, finding and handling duplicates is crucial for accurate data analysis.

In this video I'll guide you through the process of finding duplicates in Google Sheets, using built-in features and formulas to clean up your data.

Step 1. Open the Google Sheets spreadsheet you want to look for duplicates within.

Step 2. Highlight the cell range where you want to look for duplicates.

Step 3. Click "Format" in the row of options along the top of the screen to open a menu, and then click "Conditional Formatting" in this menu. A Conditional Format Rules menu opens on the right side of the screen.

Step 4. Find the Format Cells section, and then click the drop-down associated with "Format Cells If" to expand it.

Step 5. Click "Custom Formula Is" in this menu. Enter the following formula on the screen into the Value or Formula field. I'll also include this formula in this video's description and pinned comment so you can easily copy it. At this point you can also click the paint bucket icon and change the color that duplicate cells will be highlighted with. In this example I'll stick with the default green.

Step 6. Click "Done." You'll now see that all of the cells that contain duplicate values in your defined cell range are highlighted.

You can remove the highlighting from duplicate values in your Google Sheets document, by navigating to the Conditional Format Rules on the right side of your document, holding your cursor over the rule to find duplicate values, and then clicking the trash can icon to delete that rule. The duplicate values will no longer be highlighted in your Google Sheets document.
