This video will show you how to fix the release date check on the retail DVD disc version of Grand Theft Auto IV (4) on PC. The in-game on-disc version of the GTA IV release date check no longer functions after installation. The error messages reads 'An error occurred during the release date check. Click the "Retry" button to check again (Internet connection required).' The Activate Manually button does not function either. Instead, click on the provided website link. If you receive this error message: Secure Connection Failed. An error occurred during a connection to support.securom.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm (s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap) then connect to said site using the newest version of Google Chrome. Once the site is up, click on the link under Offline 'Date Check and Product Activation' Guide. On the next page, scroll towards the bottom of the page and right click on the yellow text followed by SAVE AS in order to download and save the following file:

Run GTA4RC.exe and complete the process. Once complete, run Grand Theft Auto IV and complete the Grand Theft Auto IV Serial Entry.
WARNING: your Grand Theft Auto IV serial can ONLY be active on ONE PC at a time. If you are going to change computers, change hard disk drives (HDDs), upgrade your PC, change operating systems, even If you are simply going to delete the game, uninstall the game, or fear that your hard drive is on its last leg and will soon die, you MUST REVOCATE your license: this allows you to once again install the game in the future. If you do not do this, your will NO LONGER be able to install your game in the future!
