About this video: Minecraft modpacks are one of the best ways to customize Minecraft and take it to the next level. From modpacks that complete change the game like RLCraft or DawnCraft to mods that aim to make Minecraft what it should be like Better Minecraft to even performance Minecraft modpacks like Fabulously Optimized or Notifine, this video will show you exactly how to download and install Minecraft modpacks!
First things first, you will need to download the CurseForge Launcher. This is the most popular Minecraft modpack launcher. Modrinth is another popular modpack loader for Minecraft, and there is a link in the description above to our complete Modrinth guide. However, since most modpacks are on CurseForge, we will be using that in this video.
There is a link in the description above to download CurseForge. Once you are there, click the “Download Standalone” option.
Once you have the CurseForge Minecraft modpack launcher downloaded, double-click on the file you download. This will open the CurseForge installer. Click on “Next” and few times and agree to the CurseForge EULA if you do. Then, finally, CurseForge will be installed and be done once you are finished.
Click on Minecraft and click “Continue” to setup Minecraft on CurseForge for modpacks. In order to install modpacks, just search for them at the top. You can change your filter to only show modpacks to make them easier to find.
After you find the Minecraft modpack you want, click on the “Install” button on the pack. Your modpack will start downloading and installing.
While your Minecraft modpack is downloading, you can click on the settings button in the bottom left of CurseForge. Click on “Minecraft” here, and you will find various Minecraft setting. Increasing your allocated memory here can often be required for modpacks. Generally modpacks need at least 6,000 to 10,000MB of RAM.
With the modpack downloaded, you can go to your “My Modpacks” page and click the “Play” button on it. The Minecraft Launcher will open. You will need to login to the Minecraft Launcher to play your modpack. This is the normal Minecraft Launcher, so it’s 100% safe to login.
Once you have logged into the Minecraft Launcher, select “Minecraft Java Edition” on the left-hand side, and your modpack will already be selected. Click the “Play” button and click it again on the window that appears confirming you are playing modded Minecraft.
Minecraft will now open with the modpack you installed! You can play the modpack from there. You can install multiple Minecraft modpacks in CurseForge and switch between playing them as you wish. They are all completely separate with their own separate worlds, mods, etc.
