About this video: This video is a complete guide on how to make Minecraft less laggy. We do this using Minecraft performance mods, and our Minecraft modpack NotiFine. This modpack is designed to increase FPS and fix lag in Minecraft 1.21. This is done using a combination of performance mods such as Sodium and other Minecraft mods for performance.
First things first, you will need to download the CurseForge App if you haven’t already. This is where you will be able to download the NotiFine modpack from. Once you have the CurseForge App, select Minecraft and click “Continue”. Then, search for “Notifine” at the top of the CurseForge App. Notifine will appear with an “Install” button on it. Click that install button, and Notifine will begin downloading!
Once you have Notifine downloaded, there will be play button. Click that to open the Minecraft Launcher. Login to the launcher and click the Play button to play Minecraft with Notifine to get more FPS on laptops and PCs!
In Minecraft, select “Options” and “Video Settings”. This is where you can configure all of the Minecraft settings to make Minecraft less laggy in 1.21.
Start off by clicking “Shader Packs” in the top right and disabling shaders. Be sure to click “Apply” to save the change. You can get good performance with shaders using Notifine. However, to increase FPS in Minecraft 1.21 the most, you will need to turn shaders off.
From there go to the “General” tab in Video Settings. Turn the render distance to 8 to get started. This can be increased later if you are experiencing lag. Set the simulation distance to 5 chunks and turn off VSync. Set your Max Framerate to unlimited. Turning on VSync and limiting framerate can provide a smoother experience. However, if you want to boost FPS in Minecraft 1.21 as much as possible, these are the settings you need.
Go to the “Quality” tab next. Here, set graphics to fast, turn clouds off, set weather and leaves to fast, turn particles to minimal, turn smooth lighting off, biome blend to 1 block, entity distance to 50%, and turn entity shadows off. Lastly, set minimap levels to 0x.
On the “Performance” tab, select chunk update threads to Default and turn everything else on this page on.
For Advanced, make sure use persistent mapping is one and CPU render-ahead limit is set to about the middle of the options you have.
Animations can be all turned off, and Particles can all be turned off as well.
For details, turning all of these off will give you the best FPS. However, leaving things like weather on and the sun and moon on won’t cause lag in most cases, so feel free to leave those on.
The rest of your Minecraft optimized settings can be ignored.
You can now go into Minecraft 1.21, and you will be able to see your FPS by press F3 on your keyboard. The FPS is in the top left. It is possible to get over 1,000 FPS in Minecraft using this video. However, you only really need about 30 FPS to be able to play Minecraft. Don’t worry if you are using getting that amount or even a but under it.
At this point though, you now know how to make Minecraft less laggy in 1.21. If you have any questions about how to make Minecraft run smoother on a laptop or PC, be sure to let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
