How to Get the Magical Sword (First Quest) - The Legend of Zelda First Quest 100% Walkthrough
This shows how to get the Magical Sword during the First Quest. The Magical Sword is the 3rd & strongest sword in the game doing double the damage of the White Sword (and 4 times the Wooden Sword). The only requirement to qualify for it is that Link's maximum health must be at least 12 hearts. You don't even need to have the White Sword first.
This video is under the assumption that you have the Stepladder from Level 4. If you don't then you need to take an alternate route through the Lost Woods. You can also get to the sword by using the warp which requires having the Power Bracelet. The warp route is by far the shortest so if you have the Power Bracelet then I would recommend you take that path instead. You can see these other 2 routes in the videos linked down below.
To get to the Magical Sword with the Stepladder then from the starting screen go right 1 screen, up 5 screens, left 2 screens, down 1 screen, left 1 screen, up 1 screen, left 2 screens, down 1 screen, left 2 screens, & finally 1 up screen.
At this point you should be in the northeast corner of the graveyard. Stand in front of the gravestone that is in the middle row and 2nd from the right and push up onto it. The gravestone should move up & reveal a staircase. Go down it & get the sword from the Old Man.
