How to Have 2 Controllers with 1 Joy Con on Nintendo Switch (Split Screen Games)
If you want to use two separate controllers with a single Joy-Con on your Nintendo Switch, follow these steps:
Detach the Joy-Con Controllers:
Turn your Nintendo Switch over and detach both Joy-Con controllers from the console.
Attach the Joy-Con Straps (if available):
If you have Joy-Con straps, attach them to the top of each controller for a more tactile button surface.
Navigate to the Controller Menu:
Power on your Nintendo Switch and go to the home screen.
Select the Controllers icon along the bottom edge of your display (it’s the third circular button from the right).
Change Grip/Order:
Tap or select Change Grip/Order.
Pair the Joy-Cons:
Unlock the left Joy-Con by pressing the black button on the back of it and fully detach it from your system.
Press the SL and SR bumper buttons at the top of the left Joy-Con until it appears in the list of controllers.
Repeat the same process for the right Joy-Con.
Confirm the Configuration:
Press the A button to confirm your new controller configuration.
Play with Two Players:
Hand the second Joy-Con controller to your friend or family member.
Open your favorite game and select a two-player mode from the menu.
