How To Hide Or Clear Frequently Used Folders And Recently Used Files In Quick Access On Windows 10

In this video, I will show you how to hide your recently used files and frequently used folders in Quick access. I will also show you how to clear your File Explorer history. Hiding your recently used files and frequently used folders will disable your Quick access in your Windows File Explorer. Clearing your File Explorer history will only temporary hide both your recently used files and frequently used folders. As soon as you open some files or folders, you will be shown the most recent ones once again in your Quick access.

Steps To Hide Frequent Folders And Recent Files In Quick Access:
1. Open File Explorer by clicking on the icon pinned on your task bar or by searching for it.
2. Your File Explorer will open to Quick access, displaying your recently used files and frequently used folders. Right click on Quick access at the top left hand corner of the side menu
3. Left click on Options.
4. A small window called Folder Options/File Explorer Options will then open
5. In the General tab, under Privacy, uncheck both "Show recently used files in Quick access" and "Show frequently used folders in Quick access"
6. Click Apply
7. Click Ok

Note: If you have pinned folders in Quick access, they will not be hidden after you have unchecked the box "Show frequently used folders in quick access." You will need to unpin all the pinned folders from Quick access, to hide frequent folders.

Steps To Clear File Explorer History:
1. Repeat steps 1-4 above
2. In the General tab, under Privacy, left click on the "Clear" button to clear File Explorer history.

Congratulations, you have successfully hidden frequent folders and recent files in quick access in your file explorer.
