How to Hide Your Phone Number on Facebook

Your phone number is a personal thing that you may not want people to be able to access without your permission -- even your Facebook friends. By default, Facebook makes your phone number available to your Facebook friends. If you don't like the idea of an ex-significant other or someone you've lost touch with over the years having access to your phone number on Facebook, you can choose to hide your phone number so that only you can see it. In this video I'll walk through how to hide your phone number on Facebook using both the Facebook app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices, and the Facebook.com website.
First, let's walk through how to hide your phone number from Facebook friends using the Facebook mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
Step 1. Tap to launch the Facebook app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. You'll arrive at your Facebook home screen.
Step 2. Tap the "Menu" icon in the lower right corner of the screen. The menu icon features three horizontal lines. A menu appears.
Step 3. Tap your profile picture that appears at the top of the screen. Your profile appears on the screen.
Step 4. Tap "Edit Profile" on your profile page. The Edit Profile screen appears.
Step 5. Scroll down to the bottom of the Edit Profile page to locate Edit Your About Info, and then tap "Edit Your About Info." The About screen appears.
Step 6. Scroll down to find the Contact Info section. Tap the "Edit" icon to the right of the phone number you want to hide from your Facebook profile. The Edit icon looks like a pencil. The Edit Profile screen appears.
Step 7. Locate the Mobile Phones section, and then tap the drop-down arrow that appears to the right of your phone number. A drop-down menu appears.
Step 8. Tap "More Options" in the drop-down menu to display all of the options in the menu. Tap to place a check mark to the right of "Only Me" in the list of options. The drop-down menu will automatically close, and a padlock icon will now appear next to the drop-down menu.
Step 9. Scroll down to the bottom of the Edit Profile screen and then click "Save" to save your changes. You'll be returned to the About screen, where you'll now see your changes reflected under your Facebook phone number. Now, the only person who will be able to see your phone number on Facebook will be you.
Now let's walk through how to hide your phone number on Facebook using the Facebook.com website.
Step 1. Open your web browser, navigate to Facebook.com, and then log in to your Facebook account when prompted. You'll land on your Facebook home screen.
Step 2. Hover your cursor over your account icon and name that appear in the upper left corner of the screen. Click the ellipses that appear to the right of your Facebook profile name to open a menu, and then click "Edit Profile" in the menu. The Edit Profile screen appears.
Step 3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Edit Profile screen to the About Info section, and then click "Edit Your About Info." The About screen appears.
Step 4. Click "Contact and Basic Info" in the About menu. The Facebook information associated with this section appears on the right side of the menu.
Step 5. Locate the phone number you want to hide in the Contact Information section, and then hold your cursor over the number to bring up an Edit button in that row. Click "Edit" to the right of the phone number you want to hide. New options appear for that phone number.
Step 6. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of Remove. A menu appears. Click "Only Me" in the menu. The menu will close and the icon next to the menu will change to a padlock.
Step 7. Click "Save Changes." Your changes will be saved and you'll be returned to the About screen. Now, the only person who will be able to see your phone number on Facebook will be you.
