About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to record Minecraft with a facecam. I go over everything from how to setup Minecraft for recording to how you can add a facecam for free using Open Broadcaster Software. I even showcase some of the best webcams currently on the market for making videos with Minecraft. We really do cover it all, so let's get started.
First and foremost, we need to download OBS. OBS/Open Broadcaster Software is completely free to download and install. You can find the download link in the description above. Once you have OBS downloaded, you need to get it installed. This is a very simple process as well. OBS installs just like any other program. Go through the installation process, and it will open up automatically.
Once it does, you should have a configuration wizard. If you don't, you can get it to using the 'help' tab. At this point, you want to setup your OBS for recording not streaming. Select your resolution, I'd recommend 1080P, and go ahead and finish the setup. Now, we need to go to the OBS settings, audio, and change your microphone to the Mic you want to use for your recordings.
After you have your microphone setup and have finished the autoconfiguration, it's time to open up the Minecraft launcher. Before you click play though, we need to setup Minecraft for recording. Click the three lines in the top right of the launcher and select 'launch options'. Then, select the profile you want to play on and set the resolution to '1920x1080'. This will make Minecraft 1080P, so you won't have to do any downscaling in order to record. Click save, select the profile you set the resolution on, and click 'Play'.
Next, you can go back to OBS and add a game capture. Then, you need to select a windowed application and choose Minecraft. It will then appear in your #OBS video preview. You should need to resize #Minecraft or anything like that. Now, we need to add a new 'video capture device'. This will then allow you to add your facecam as a video capture device. Be sure to select your cameras resolution with advanced settings.
After you have your facecam added, you can click on it and resize it/drag it into place in the Open Broadcast Software preview window. You can put it anywhere you want to, but the bottom right is usually the best place for face-cams in Minecraft.
At this point, you can now click the 'record' button in the bottom right. You are now recording Minecraft with OBS. I also show you how to change your output files to MP4 in OBS which will allow you to edit them easier, and you can find your recordings in your videos folder.
Nevertheless, if you have any questions about how to record Minecraft with a Facecam, please post them in the comment section below, and be sure to subscribe to the channel and give this video a thumbs up if it helped you out. Thank you very much in advance. It really does means a ton to me.
