About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to stream Fortnite to TwitchTV using OBS. OBS is completely free, so this video also shows you how to stream Fortnite for completely free assuming you have a mic for recording your audio. If you don't have a mic or a webcam, no worries! I have a list of the best microphones for Twitch streaming as well as the best webcams for Twitch streaming linked above!
First and foremost before you can start streaming Fortnite on Twitch, you need to download #OBS. You can find the OBS download link in the description above. After you have OBS downloaded, you need to install it. Luckily, Open Broadcaster Software is completely free to download, and it installs just like any other program on your PC.
After OBS is installed, you should have an auto-configuration wizard pop-up. You want to configure your OBS for streaming, recording is secondary. Then, you need to select #Twitch as your streaming service. You will now need to get your Twitch stream key by clicking thing link in OBS and logging into your Twitch account. Then, copy the private stream key and paste that into OBS.
OBS will then go ahead and configure for you automatically setting your bitrate, streaming location, and resolution without you having to do anything. After it is all done, you can go ahead and open up #Fortnite as we now need to configure it for streaming.
Once Fortnite is open, go to video settings, and set your resolution as 1920x1080 in windowed mode. This will let you click off of Fortnite while streaming, and it will allow OBS to using Fortnite at it's native streaming resolution allowing for much better quality. Next, we need to add Fortnite to OBS. To do this, select 'Add Game Capture', and then select a windowed application. The application you want to select is obviously Fortnite.
At this point, Fortnite will appear on your stream preview in OBS where you can then resize it if you would like. After that is all setup how you want it, you can go ahead and do your first stream. I would recommend playing one game, ending the stream, and then going back and watching the stream you just did to test for any issues such as audio being too loud or too quiet.
After you have done that though, you are now good to stream Fornite on TwitchTV! If you have any questions, please let us know in the comment section down below.
