About this video: This video is our top 5 list of the best code editors that Windows 10 has to offer. These editors support all different coding languages including HTML, CSS, Java, Python, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, SQL, PHP, and pretty much anything else you can think of. On top of that, they are all 100% compatible with Windows 10 and are packed with all kind of absolutely incredible features. Let's go ahead and jump right on into it!
First up on the list is the code editor that I actually use myself - Atom. Atom is featured packed, but the feature I personally love the most is the ability to work in real time with other developers on the same document. This is something that none of the other editors on this list have, and Aton does it extraordinarily well with its 'Teletype for Atom' feature. It also features direct Github integration, smart autocompletion, an incredible file system browser, and multiple pane editing allowing you to easily see two documents/files at the same time.
Coming up next on our list is Sublime Text for Windows 10. Sublime Text is a beautifully designed code editor that great find and replace features as well as some of the best multiline editing of any code editor on the market. It also instant project switching allowing you to capture the full contents of a project and switch between multiple projects easily. Sublime is a great editor if want alot of functionality with a simple interface.
In third place, we have UltraEdit. This editor is one I personally don't have experience with but came up time and time again in my research for this video. It features multi-caret and multi-select editing, live preview of HTML and Markdown making it great for web development, FTP, SSH, and Telnet integration, and on top of all that, it has a very customizable UI with a few different themes to choose from. This is one of the best editors for HTML and CSS on this list!
After UltraEdit, we have an oldie but a goodie - Notepad Plus Plus. Notepad++ is the most basic code editor on this list. It is a completely open source code editor that supports server different coding languages. It has a function list, multi-editing, a column editing mode, and even allows for plugins. If you are looking for a very basic and simple code editor, Notepad++ is perfect.
Finally, we have Visual Studio Code come in at number 5 on our list. The biggest and most unique feature of Visual Studio Code is it's 'IntelliSense' feature. This provides smart completions of your code based on imported modules, variable types and function definitions. It also has built-in Git commands, easy debugging with breakpoints, call stacks and an inactive console, and on top of all that, it is super customizable.
And there you have it! That is the complete list of the Top 5 Best code editors for Windows 10.
