About this video: In this #tutorial, I go over everything you need to do when starting a Minecraft 1.13.1 server. My goal with this tutorial was to help people who have had trouble starting Minecraft servers in the past be able to get a server up and running with 1.13.1! I do this by covering all of the issues you could have when starting your server and solving them live in the video! This is really is a complete and total guide to getting a #Minecraft server in 1.13.1!
So how do you start a server? Well, first and foremost, you need to download the 1.13.1 server file. Doing this is super easy. Just go to the second link in the description above and click the download button. Then, download the server file from Minecraft's official website. Once that is downloaded, create a folder and drop your server file into it. Then, double click on the server in the folder. This will create a bunch of stuff including a text document called 'EULA'.
Go ahead and open up the 'EULA' and if your server is going to be in compliance, agree to it! If the EULA file doesn't appear when you click the server, you need to download the JavaJDK and run the Javafix. Both of these are linked above. Then, you should be able to get the EULA and agree to it. Next, double-click on your server file again. This will open up your server console. Go ahead and stop the console by typing 'stop' in the chat box.
Now, we need to add more RAM to the #MinecraftServer. Doing this is incredibly easy. Just create a text document and enter one of the codes found in the description above. Then, save this file as 'run.bat', and make sure you change 'Save as type' to 'All files'. Once you've done that, you can click on your newly created 'run.bat' file to start your Minecraft server. This is how you will run your server from now on.
At this point, you could join your server locally, but what about your friends? Well, for your friends to join, you will need to port forward your router. This is super simple, and I show you exactly how to do it in the video. Just remember that on your router, it may not be called port forward. It could also be called 'NAT Gaming', 'NAT Forwarding, 'Apps & Gaming', or even 'Virtual Servers'. The port you want to forward is 25565 on your IPv4 address with both the UDP and TCP protocol.
After your port forward is done, all you need to is get your public IP address from the link above, and join your server using that address. If you can join your server, give your public IP address to your friends and see if they can join. If so, congratulations! You have officially set up a Minecraft 1.13.1 server!
