How to Turn Off Any iPhone without the Touch Screen (Force Turn Off)
If your iPhone's touch screen isn’t working, you can still turn it off using alternative methods that rely on the physical buttons or a connected computer. Here’s how:
Method 1: Using Physical Buttons
For iPhones with a Home Button (e.g., iPhone 8, SE, or older):
Press and hold the Side button (on the right) and the Volume Down button (on the left) together.
Hold them for about 10-20 seconds until the "Slide to Power Off" screen appears or the device restarts (if the screen doesn’t respond, it may force a restart instead).
If the slider appears and the touch screen isn’t working, proceed to Method 2 or wait for the battery to drain.
For iPhones without a Home Button (e.g., iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, 14):
Press and hold the Side button and either Volume button (Up or Down) together.
Keep holding for 10-20 seconds until the "Slide to Power Off" option shows up or the phone restarts.
If the screen doesn’t respond to slide, use Method 2 or let the battery run out.
Note: If the touch screen is completely unresponsive, you might not see the slider, and the phone may force restart instead of powering off. A force restart (releasing after the Apple logo appears) won’t fully power it down, so try the next method.
