How to use External USB Hard Drive on PS5 (Easy Method)
Got it! Here's how to use an external USB hard drive on your PS5 without brackets.
Connect the USB drive to one of the back USB ports on the PS5. The front port may not support extended storage. Format the drive by going to Settings, selecting Storage, then USB Extended Storage, and choosing Format as USB Extended Storage. Keep in mind that this will erase all data on the drive. Set install location for PS4 games by adjusting settings in Storage under Extended Storage.
Move games between storages by highlighting a game, pressing the Options button, and selecting Move to USB Extended Storage to free up space on your console. Safely remove the drive before unplugging by going to Settings, selecting Storage, then USB Extended Storage, and choosing Safely Remove from PS5 to prevent data corruption.
