22Here's how you can update the system software on your PS4 console using a USB drive:
Preparation:
Download the Update File:
Go to the official PlayStation website to download the latest PS4 system software update file.
The file you need is named "PS4UPDATE.PUP".
Prepare a USB Storage Device:
Use a USB drive formatted to FAT32 or exFAT.
Create a folder named PS4 on the root of the USB drive.
Inside the PS4 folder, create another folder named UPDATE.
Copy the PS4UPDATE.PUP file into the UPDATE folder. The path should look like this: USB:\PS4\UPDATE\PS4UPDATE.PUP.
Updating the PS4:
Turn Off Your PS4:
Completely power down your PS4; don't just put it in rest mode.
Boot to Safe Mode:
