Preparation:
Backup Data: Since reinstalling the system software will erase all data on your PS5, back up any important data to an external USB drive or to the cloud via PlayStation Plus if you have a subscription.
Gather Tools:
A USB drive with at least 4GB of free space, formatted to FAT32 or exFAT.
The latest PS5 system software update file from the official PlayStation website. Make sure you download the file named PS5UPDATE.PUP.
Download System Software:
Visit the PlayStation official site to download the system software update file.
Steps to Reinstall:
Prepare the USB Drive:
Create a folder on the root of your USB drive named PS5.
Inside the PS5 folder, create another folder named UPDATE.
Place the PS5UPDATE.PUP file you downloaded into the UPDATE folder.
The path should look like this:

Turn Off Your PS5:

Enter Safe Mode:

Connect the USB Drive:
With the PS5 in Safe Mode, connect the USB drive containing the update file to one of the USB ports on the front of the console.
Update System Software:
Use your controller connected with a USB cable (wireless won't work in Safe Mode) to navigate to "Update System Software" and select "Update from USB Drive".
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the system software. This process might take some time, so be patient.
Complete the Setup:
Once the installation is complete, the PS5 will reboot. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up your console again, including language settings, network connection, and user accounts.
