How to workaround an installer that requires connecting a USB device when it's already connected

This video will show you a method to work around the problem of a USB device's device driver installer (such as a printer or scanner from such manufacturers as Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson, HP, Lexmark, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, Xerox) requiring that you connect the USB device only at a specific moment in time during the installer and do not connect the USB device prior to running the installer; what if the device has already been connected and now the installer is not recognizing the connected USB device? Unplugging and replugging the USB cable, changing USB ports, powering off and back on the device, unplugging and replugging the device, all of these methods do not work! This probably happens most frequently during a format and reinstall of the operating system or through use of a factory system restore disc. Do you have to format and reinstall all over again? Not to worry, there is a workaround to this problem using Windows' Device Manager in conjunction with the Control Panel's Add Hardware wizard, and this video will show you how.
