From watching mutant superpowers in CGI-enhanced movies, we develop a love for superheroes and aspire to be like them. Most of those characters in movies are obviously fictional, but in reality, some actual humans do too much for their status as mortals. They possess verifiable abilities to do the most unimaginable thing. Without further ado, let's dive into the lives of these 15 humans with real superpowers!
15. A mother and daughter
Doctors have advised that we need at least eight hours of sleep every day to live a healthy and balanced life. For most people, that's the best therapy they can get. However, some require far less sleep because their genes say so. A group of researchers at the University of California conducted genetic tests on sleep-test participants and found a mother and daughter with an unusual trait. They had an abnormal copy of the DEC2 gene that affects their circadian rhythm. The result is that they are short sleepers and can go days without taking a nap.

14. Unknown Swiss Woman
Also called the Immigration delay disease, the no fingerprint superpower is a genetic condition that leaves the affected person without fingerprints. This genetic disorder became known after a Swiss woman was not allowed to enter the U.S since her fingerprint was undetected. When it comes to immigration, the issue of documentation cannot be overemphasized. Aside from the inherent frustration of dealing with bureaucracies, this rare condition is a superpower for those with criminal intentions. They'll be excited to walk in and out of any country unnoticed.

13. Stephen Crohn
In the early 80s and 90s, the AIDS epidemic ravaged the Latinx and Black communities. Nevertheless, one man in the community managed to escape the pandemic owing to a rare and mysterious ailment. Stephen Crohn had a Delta 32 mutation that protected his white blood cells from contracting the virus. Due to the genetic change, Stephen was utterly immune to HIV. During any disease outbreak, a few individuals are found to be immune for one reason or another. Scientists have used immunity to describe and devise treatments.

12. Ozzy Osbourne
If you hear Ozzy Osbourne's story for the first time, you'll probably wonder why he's still alive. For someone who has popped, smoked, drank, injected, and snorted copious amounts of substances over the years, he has managed to survive the effect of these hard substances. Why did he pull through? The answer is due to his mutant superpowers for partying. In 2010, researchers said they found gene variants in his body that they had never seen before. These variants are unsurprisingly found in regions of the genome associated with alcoholism and how the body absorbs recreational drugs.

11. Javier Brotet
Even if it's your first time hearing the name Javier Brotet, the chances are that you have seen some of his stunts in a horror movie. He has featured in blockbusters like the Spanish horror film REC, Slender man, and Mama. In the film Mama, we see how he bends himself in ungodly poses that it is hard to confirm if he did that. We admit that with technology, these tricks are made believable, but he is far from fiction. Javier has a genetic condition called Marfan syndrome that affects his body's connective tissue. People who suffer from this condition have unusually long limbs and fingers and are abnormally flexible. In severe cases, they may suffer organ failure.

10. Marilu Henner
If someone asks you to recount an incident from five years ago, the chances are that you'll leave out some essential details unknowingly. For people like Marilu Henner, the story is different. She has a condition scientists call hyperthymesia

It occurs when one can recount every detail dating back to many decades ago. Imagine narrating an event from ten years ago like it just happened yesterday. Marilu is one of the 25 confirmed cases of people whose memories capture information and keep it longer. According to her, it feels like having flashes in her brain that show her everything that happened, and the reminder helps her recall. Some scientists say that an obsessive-compulsive disorder causes hyperthymesia, but this finding is still subject to further investigation.
