Doctors have advised that we need at least eight hours of sleep every day to live a healthy and balanced life. For most people, that's the best therapy they can get. A group of researchers at the University of California conducted genetic tests on sleep-test participants and found a mother and daughter with an unusual trait. They had an abnormal copy of the DEC2 gene that affects their circadian rhythm. The result is that they are short sleepers and can go days without taking a nap.

Also called the Immigration delay disease, the no fingerprint superpower is a genetic condition that leaves the affected person without fingerprints. This genetic disorder became known after a Swiss woman was not allowed to enter the U.S since her fingerprint was undetected. When it comes to immigration, the issue of documentation cannot be overemphasized. Aside from the inherent frustration of dealing with bureaucracies, this rare condition is a superpower for those with criminal intentions. Stephen Crohn had a Delta 32 mutation that protected his white blood cells from contracting the virus. Due to the genetic change, Stephen was utterly immune to HIV. It occurs when one can recount every detail dating back to many decades ago. Imagine narrating an event from ten years ago like it just happened yesterday. Marilu is one of the 25 confirmed cases of people whose memories capture information and keep it longer. According to her, it feels like having flashes in her brain that show her everything that happened, and the reminder helps her recall. Some scientists say that an obsessive-compulsive disorder causes hyperthymesia, but this finding is still subject to further investigation.
