Ice Age : Dawn of the Dinosaurs the Video Game Gameplay chapter 12 - Expect the Unexpected
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (or Ice Age 3) is a video game based on the movie with the same name. It was released on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, and PC by Activision on June 30, 2009, 1 day before the movie's release. It is the sequel to the Ice Age 2 video game.
Most of the cast from the movie voiced the characters in the game, with the exceptions of Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, and Sean William Scott.
The game allows the player to take control of Manny, Sid, Diego, Scrat, Scratte, and Buck as you take on or run away from dangerous dinosaurs, roll an egg to safety, chase for your beloved acorn, and explore caves and jungles over fifteen levels. However, some characters are just for tiny parts in the game, like Manny and Diego. The main character in the game is Buck. There are eight mini-games to play either in single-player mode or with friends in multiplayer and get things from Fast Tony. In multiplayer mode, you can play as Mini-sloths and Baby Dinos. There are three different bosses in the game: Ankylosaurus, Chasmosaurus, and Rudy.
In this chapter, Buck is creating some rules for the herd.
Rule number 1: Always listen to Buck!
Rule number 2: Stay on the trail!
Rule number 3: EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED;
just as he said the last rule, an Ankylosaurus gives him a tail hit and causes Buck to fall down. Separated from the herd, Buck tells them to go on ahead and he will catch up with them. Now he must find a way to get back to the herd.
When we get to control him, Buck is in an ample space with some dinosaurs and a Pachyosaur as a rideable dinosaur when Buck interacts with it (He throws his vine whip on the Pachyosaur's neck just like how he tames a wild beast. If you successfully press the interact button several times, Pachyosaur will be stunned and Buck can ride it to attack nearby enemies or destroy a cracked wall of rock with the dino's hard skull). On the way, a giant hornet hive blocked the path ahead and Buck has to destroy it while fending off the hornets coming out from the hive. With the hive gone, Buck will enter a cave area with a curious gas on the floor. Turns out that this gas came from poisonous plants after Buck climbs the first platform here. The plants are located high up there and the poison green gas starts to fill up the cave. Buck has to quickly climb the platform in his path to the highest ground while escaping from the gas (The gas will make Buck cough and lose one life bar or should I say health berry). When he is at the top of the cave, there are six poison plants in total and Buck has to defeat them quick before the gas hit the highest ground and fills the entire area. Defeating the plants will make the gas dissipate and now the area is safe from deadly gas. Still....climbing is easier than going down now (I tried the hard way of climbing down and Buck died, that hit hard of course. Strangely enough, I remember from several of my childhood memories that there was a bug or maybe lucky coincidence that at one time...if you decide to jump straight down from the highest ground in any chapter, pressing the attack button before Buck touches the ground can break his fall and Buck will land safely without harm. I wonder if it's a glitch or bug there). Now we have a new armament here: The spore cannon (Careful here as I once accidentally shoot the ground when Buck is facing down in the midst of running with the weapon equipped and unintentionally killed him in one hit even though it didn't directly touch him but the spores spread after the shot instead. Yikes, so that's why Buck said "A weapon of mass destruction". The Spore Cannon is basically like carrying a bazooka that can kill you by accident). Buck has to use it to open an entrance as the Rafflesia flowers on the wall can only be destroyed by the Spore Cannon. Passing through here, a group of Guanlong dinosaurs ambushed him but they can be killed in one hit by the new weapon.
Coming out of the cave, there are many rocks hanging on some stalactites. Buck has to jump from rock to rock to arrive on the other side of the cliff. Afterward, a Triceratop is blocking the way but entering here will mean facing a lot of dinosaurs and spitting plants. the Triceratops that we stunned before from a leaning pointed rock has woken up and Buck must fight him (Remember the pattern of Ankylosaurus boss except that he prefers to charge at every second in low health unlike the former). Entering one of the cave here after using the Pachyosaur to destroy the wall leads to a cascade zone. This zone needs a careful jump as Buck can't swim here. Several Dragonflies ambush him when he arrives in a very small cliff. The cave ahead of him contains several long vines and closing cutscene opens with Buck reuniting with the group once again.
Enjoy :-)
