đăIce Nezumi Stage by D_PROTOTYPEăăMega Maker Showcaseă(Viewer-Submitted Mega Man Maker Levels)
Hey friends, today's Mega Man Maker level is a desert-themed Ice Nezumi stage. This appears to be a re-creation of a Nezumiman stage, which is a Mega Man fangame.
I've never played Nezumiman, but from what I've seen on YouTube it is a Mega Man fan game where Mega Man is actually a mouse, and all his enemies are also animals. This appears to be a pretty faithful re-creation of Ice Nezumi's stage, at least from what I've seen. For example, in the first section we have the Taketento (flying ladybugs) to represent the swooping black birds of Nezumiman, we have the green flailing arm detatcher man to represent the snowmen (and I believe the snowmen breaking up into deadly snowballs is represented by the flying man that remains after shooting them), and those driving-on-the-street enemies to represent penguins that would slide at you. All in all, a pretty creative re-creation with the enemies available!
For the next section, I am assuming the icicle-dropping enemies were not added into Mega Man Maker when this was made, because they would be perfect here, as the original section has icy stalactites you have to shoot down and jump on top of to cross the pits. When there's something that relevant that isn't used when such creative solutions were used earlier, I have to assume it wasn't in the game yet.
During the underwater section, Ice Nezumi of Nezumiman uses tunas that dart at you quickly, which were simulated in our Ice Nezumi level by the accordion stalkers (It's come to my attention I apparently know none of the original Mega Man enemy names, hahah).
Strangely enough, one major deviation from the original is the lack of a secluded one-up in the water section! I thought for sure I'd find out how to get that one-up when watching the Nezumiman video, but it just isn't there. The mystery lives on!
The seal in the next section is dead-on -- Nezumiman literally has a seal that bounces something on his nose and then throws it to you. Couldn't be closer to the original if you programmed Mega Man Maker from scratch, hahah. The room after that has another 1:1 recreation, with the only exception being that Nezumiman's Shield Attacker enemies are re-skinned as jellyfish.
I wasn't planning on going screen-by-screen and listing all the differences, but we're committed at this point so lets go for it. The next levels are all pretty much 1:1 as well, with the sad exception that the Shield Attacker in the thumbnail picture room zooms off the screen once spawned, as the original Nezumiman ones didn't go until they hit a wall but had a set range they'd patrol.
The next big difference is the Big Eye. The "Big Eye Equivalent" of Nezumiman is much different, other than the fact that it is a bullet sponge. It doesn't jump but sort of plods forward in a strange mechanical way. It's also constantly shooting at you, which makes it a bit trickier looking. But all in all it seems to be the Big Eye variant that's available in Nezumiman, so there you go.
The last comparison is the final boss, which is definitely on the same theme as Ice Man, but with some variations. The Nezumiman version of it shoots a few single icicles straight forward, then does a few hops towards you, ending in a belly flop and penguin slide in which he is invulnerable. He's basically a combination of Ice Man's first shot, the penguin enemies that the cars were simulating, and a Big Eye hopping at you, but ultimately looks like he is fairly easy.
All in all, this was an AWESOME re-creation, and I'm sorry I hadn't played or watched the original before I played this stage so I could have given this comparison information live while playing. Either way, I enjoyed the level my first time through and enjoy it even more now that I see how creatively it was implemented to resemble the original.
Now, if I only knew how to get that extra life, hahah. Thanks for watching friends, I hope you enjoyed the video! :)
