Inscryption - Playing Act 2 as Grimora pt3. Annihilating Magnificus
At the start of this video I run over to the Mycologists and grab the Sporedigger card. I won't be using it, since the goal of my run is to play in the purest spirit of the Scrybe whose deck I'm using and I don't believe any of them would cooperate with the Mycologists (maybe Leshy? Admittedly, Act 1 confuses me on this point). Nevertheless, it's an excellent card for a Deathly Deck, and I highly recommend it. A 0/3 blocker for 1 Bone that generates 2 Bones every turn it's alive is a tremendous warmup card if you can draw it early.
I probably approached the Slime Mage here a bit too confidently, letting him hit me with an initial 3 damage, which made the rest of the battle tighter. I should have used my initial Tomb Robber to tank one of the Green Mages. My next draw was a Skeleton, which would have meant I could take two full waves of hits while killing the two Mox that come in. Even if I hadn't drawn a Skeleton, I could have Hammered the Tomb Robber on turn 2 to play the Draugr. Fortunately I draw a second Skeleton so it works out, but this was way closer to a loss than it needed to be. The Deathly Deck is highly effective against these mage types because of how good Skeletons are for killing Mox for free.
The fight with the Impaled Mage goes almost perfectly. I could have won a couple of turns earlier by pumping my remaining Bones into the Bone Heap to make him 4/5, but otherwise this is a good battle with great draws and solid execution.
It's tricky to figure out how to start the Slime Mage battle. The Bone Lord's Femur would make a huge difference here. I hold onto my Skeleton and Draugr to make certain I have two Skeletons to kill the first two Mox, so I have to chump block with the initial Bone Heap. There is a third Mox for this fight, but as long as you've killed the two Gem Fiends before it arrives, it's not much of a threat and you can ignore it. I should have prioritized killing the Hover Mage instead on turn 4.
I redo my deck for Magnificus, because any cards with Brittle on them are a huge advantage here. Those cards have abnormally high damage for their cost, and Magnificus' gimmick will remove Brittle, so you want to bring all of your Skeletons and Revenants into the battle. I just fill the rest of my hand out with free cards, but honestly you should probably go back to Grimora's shop and buy enough Skeletons to fill your hand out. They're essentially Gecks for this fight.
I was sorely tempted to include the two Skelemagus cards, as Magnificus will remove their reliance on Mox as well as Brittleness, making it a 4/1 card that costs 2 Bones. That's pretty busted, but since I'm not allowing the use of that card as part of the "pure Deathly Deck" rules, I decided not to include it here. Normally I'd recommend it for this fight, for any deck.
The fight goes really well because I keep getting the Rabbit sigil, flooding my deck with chump blockers. I spend a lot of the early turns trying to conserve my Revenant so it can kill the Magnus Mox, so I need to kill the Orange Mages first. It's tricky, though, because an incoming Orange Mage will always land for at least one turn before you can kill it, buffing the Magnus Mox and killing your Revenant. In hindsight, you're probably better off ignoring the Magnus Mox for this fight and use your Revenants to hit the board hard and win swiftly. The Deathly Deck has so much advantage here that Magnificus really isn't the threat he is for other decks.
