Inscryption - Playing Act 2 as Grimora pt4. Executing P03
In my previous run I forgot to grab all of the free chests in P03's starting room. They're not valuable for me here, but I want to show all of the items like this for completion's sake. I feel like The Walkers is probably a good card. It's a 1/2 that costs 4 Bones but gives them back when it dies. I feel like this could be beneficial in a lot of situations, but I leave it out because I'd rather spend 2 Bones making a 2/3 Bone Heap.
I waste a couple of turns on the Inspector so his back lines will build up. This usually forces him to put a Buff Conduit somewhere useless, making for a faster kill. Once it's in place, I use my Bone Heap to clear the left side of the board.
I use a similar tactic for the Melter, but it goes even easier because I get plenty of early Gravediggers to block the L33pB0ts while building a Bone stock. Once I put my Bone Heap into play he immediately has plenty of stats to work with to clear the left column again, preventing conduits from forming.
After the minions here I was getting tired of struggling with early mana issues, so I replaced all of the Draugrs in my deck with Skeletons. It's probably too late to matter, but since I still got a pretty bad draw on P03 I feel like it might have helped.
However difficult it is to start with a Deathly Deck, it dominates the second half of the act so thoroughly that it almost makes up for it. I knew from previous experience it had a decisive advantage against Magnificus, but this battle was the first time I learned it had maybe an even bigger advantage for P03. If you can end phase 1 with Brittle creatures, like Skeletons or Revenants, P03 is left unable to construct any cards for phase 2. But even further, if your strongest card is a buffed Bone Heap (which is likely), he'll scan it. But when he creates his own Bone Heaps, they start with the default 0/1 stat line! Once they get around to your side of the board you can keep buffing them if you want. All in all this deck just completely wrecks this fight.
Another almost silly advantage the Deathly Deck has over P03 is that "activated abilities" for cards can still be used when they're on his side of the board, but they still apply to the player character. So the Tomb Robber can still be used to generate Skeletons, no matter where it is circling on the battlefield. Also Gravediggers will still dig up Bones for you, even when they're on his side of the board. All in all this gives this deck a ton of advantages in this fight. I like to play a Gravedigger or Tomb Robber on the far left whenever I can, so it will immediately go to P03's side of the board and clutter it. It's also worth noting that Skeletons and Revenants work even better in this fight than usual since they serve their normal role but can't be taken by P03.
Another tactic that works amazingly well, that I didn't get to use here, is to let P03 lay his Bolt Hound out, then play a card on the far right to chump block. The Bolt Hound will kill that card, then immediately get transferred to your side of the board. Unfortunately P03 does this same trick right back to me here.
