In this Skul the Hero Slayer video, I'll be using the Dark Paladin! Dark Paladin, long one of the more mediocre skulls in the entire game, recently recieved some tremendous and much deserved buffs in the 1.9 update! First and foremost, Dark Paladin received a 10 bonus of his Shield gained from his passive, raising it to 20 from 10. This allows Dark Paladin to more easily maintain the passive stat boosts as well as the enhanced basic attack much easier in the Dark Mirror, where almost every enemy deals more than 10 damage at high DM levels. This alone, however, wouldn't have been enough to fully fix the Dark Paladin, as his energy gained from casting his skills has also always been inadequate, and ever since the devs removed the energy gain from Dark Paladin's swap he never really fully recovered from it, but thankfully 1.9 also saw massive energy gain buffs to all of Dark Paladin's abilities. This means that now Dark Paladin can very consistently generate that 20 shield, so even if he loses it quickly you can get it back quickly as well. This also makes Dark Paladin quite the powerful defensive skull as well! The main issues still facing Dark Paladin is many of his skills have extremely high casting time, which means you're stuck in place and left vulnerable for quite some whil, but this can be overcome with the skill cooldown/attack speed Arachne shrine, as well as with inscriptions such as Rapidity and especially Manatech 3. All in all, things are looking pretty damn good for Dark Paladin, but just HOW good are they looking? Is he top tier material? That's the aim of today's episode!
