In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, we celebrate getting to 3,000 subscribers with a cursed Davy Jones run! Davy Jones is a skull I personally had misunderstandings about for a long time. I considered his mechanics a bit too clunky, figured him to not be powerful enough to learn how to get past his inherent weirdnes, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Davy Jones' unique mechanic is when he casts a skill it doesn't do anything in that moment, but rather loads 1 of 4 canonballs for later use. When Davy Jones casts his basic attack, if he has a canonball loaded, the skill you cast earlier and saved is then cast. This makes Davy Jones inherently play slower than many skulls in the game, but also gives him the added benefit of being able to save up 4 skill casts and using them all at once. Once Davy Jones has cast 3 skills however, he gets an enhanced, more powerful version of whatever skill was loaded in. These deal enormous damage, and allow Davy's true strength to be seen. Davy hits like a semi truck going full speed; his damage is among the heaviest hitters in the game. This is what makes Davy so good at his core, and allows him to overcome the strange pace he plays at. ALSO, on top of that, I'll be taking not one, not two, but THREE curses for this run: Infectious Disease, Shyness, and last but certainly not least, Ambition! Joined by Monkey, can these two overcome such a turbulent run?
