Is Religion Bad?
4Is religion good or bad? That's an interesting question - because on one hand, I think that blind faith placed in unproven things should not be placed above proven fact, truth, or the courage to acknowledge the things we don't know.
But at the same time, faith, fantasy, symbolism, and the cultural tradition which is enriched by faith, religion - and many other similar human constructs - enriches our experiences and help us to understand and visualize abstract concepts.
We should not be for - or against - the notion of faith in our lives. Instead, we should seek to embrace a middle ground which is respectful of others, humble enough to acknowledge what we don't know, and open-minded enough to find good in perspectives which we may not agree with entirely.
It's also important to realize that no one idea should be placed above all others. We should seek to inspire and be inspired. But we should not seek to manipulate others, or allow others to manipulate ourselves. In the end, everyone's journey is unique, and should be respected.
