As cute as the the dev's first game. Plays better. With the inclusion of dodge, bosses are easier. Music is weirdly foreboding in this one.

I get the feeling that it has less passion to it. The level design seems to be knowingly cumbersome, like at the start of a section you know there's a shortcut you can take once you beat the section once. Still kept the "buy map to see all goodies". Upgrades are weak. Though I like the random factor to it. Could've had more fun upgrades instead of stat increases, but I can understand that developing such would be difficult. As a whole it has a feeling of "more of the same, if you liked Sheepo" in a slightly lazy sort of way. Like those boss like segments where you just fight a group of mobs. I guess in general fighting mobs is kind of boring. Also save spots are so far apart, that I feel like a lot of progress is lost. Though luckily it doesn't revert the progress, just your position. Then again the movement is so fast, that it's not that big of a deal.

I guess it's a given that the game can't feel wholly fresh, but something seems to be bugging me, like there's a lot of empty fluff to this game, like it's padded out. Don't know why. Maybe just because of the usual slightly indie janky feeling to it? Even in the story department, it tells the story like no-one has successfully explored the islands and then you go there and there's others all around.

The game is fine. Don't know why it's bothering me this much. Though to be honest Sheepo also bothered me.
