I've Bought These Same Games How Many Times On Different Systems?!?!
Do you have a problem? The kind of problem where you own the same game on multiple consoles? I'm a repeat offender when it comes to collecting my favorite games, and I've got the evidence to prove it. One of the things that Nintendo clearly excels at is getting gamers to buy the same game multiple times on multiple systems. See, I was going to make this YouTube Short just about the Disney Classics Cartridge for the original Nintendo Switch, which had 2 different releases. The first version had the Lion King and Aladdin games, while the 2nd version also added in The Jungle Book. Sure, this is the same basic cartridge on the same platform, but I was shocked when looking through my collection, when I realized I've bought these same games on multiple different platforms. Let's take a look at some of the most common offenders I've bought multiple times.
First up, we have the iconic New Super Mario Bros. U, which I own on both the Wii U and the Switch (the Deluxe version). And it doesn't stop there. The pattern continues with Mario Kart 8 and its Switch counterpart, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, along with Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. It seems Nintendo loves a good remaster!
The trend isn't just for Mario, either. I also own Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for both Wii U and Switch. I even have two copies of Donkey Kong Country Returns—one on the Wii and a new HD version on the Switch. And for good measure, I have three copies of DuckTales: Remastered—two for the Wii U, one a sealed version that was a wedding gift, digitally on the PlayStation 3, and of course the original NES Version!
And the list goes on...
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)
Aladdin and The Lion King for the Super NES and the modern-day collection that also includes The Jungle Book.
Kirby's Adventure on the NES and as part of the Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition on the Wii.
My problem is especially bad with the Mario franchise. I'm showcasing a ridiculous number of Mario games, including Super Mario 64 for both the Japanese and US markets, the Japanese and US versions of Super Mario All-Stars, the Super Mario Bros. 3 complete-in-box and Japanese versions, and so many more. It's safe to say I have a Mario problem.
Do you have this same problem? What game have you bought the most, and which one are you most guilty of buying over and over? Let me know in the comments below!
