We Need Faith, Decency, Video Games, And Each Other More Than Ever
This YouTube Short will ruffle some feathers, but I think some of these things need to be said. Today, we are broken, lost people in so many different ways. Ironically, 24 years ago today in many ways, the world went to sleep not knowing the rude wake-up call decent people would receive the next morning on 9/11/2001. Today, someone was brutally murdered simply because someone disagreed with them wanting to have a conversation, to try to find common ground and understanding. Today, I believe that We Need Faith, Decency, And Video Games, And Each Other More Than Ever
In a world that feels increasingly divided, it's easy to get caught up in anger and hate. But celebrating a person's brutal murder—no matter what you believe—is not the answer.
I've tried to keep politics off this channel, but recent events have made it clear that I can't stay silent. Being a Christian is a core part of who I am, and I won't be afraid to share that.
"For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7
"I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." - Psalm 139:14
When the world gets heavy, I find my escape in gaming. It's a universal language where we can find common ground and remember what connects us.
This isn't just about politics or religion, though. It's about finding common ground. For me, that common ground is video games. They're an escape and a way for us to come together and find joy, no matter what console we prefer.
Inspired by one of my favorite books, Field of Dreams, I've tweaked the words of Terrance Mann (played by James Earl Jones in the Movie) to fit our community:
"They'll walk into the living room, sit on the couch, and find that they have reserved seats somewhere next to the family cat or dog, just where they sat when they were children. And they'll play games and it'll be as if they have dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they can brush it away from their faces. The one constant through all the years has been games. This hobby, these games, it's part of our past. It reminds us of all that was once good and could be again."
Let's find something we can all agree on. Let's find some common ground. It might just be a video game.
