Tetsuya Takahashi's recent interview with Time Magazine really resonated with and encourage dme. It did so because I've been disillusioned with Japanese Role Playing Games since the first Playstation generation.

With his thought that Japanese developers are caught in a negative spiral, It sounds like Takahashi and I may share some similar sensibilities. It's encouraging to know that at least one of the masterminds behind a genre of games I used to love is seeing the genre's limitations and working to evolve them in ways that may make me love them again.

I'm not a huge fan of Takahashi's work on Xenoblade Chronicles. And given the experience I had with the original, I decided to pass on Xenoblade Chronicles X. Don't get me wrong, I thought Xenoblade Chronicles was a fantastic game. It just wasn't suited to my very specific tastes as an RPG fan.

Either way, I'm still very glad that Takahashi feels the way he does and is making strides to change the tide in Japan.
