Alloy Seven's Top 5 Games of 2015 - I must be one of the pickiest gamers on the face of planet Earth. Every year, I think about the games that made a strong impression on me.

I look around the internet and see tons of other gamers and personalities rattling off top 10 or even top 20 lists for the year. I wish I could be one of these people. I wish I played 20 games a year that I loved enough to make a list showcasing why I thought they were so awesome.

5. Rocket League

These days video games focus very heavily on delivering deep and immersive experiences. As an older gamer who remembers the 90s, I often miss the simple joy of playing games that were just fun. Thankfully, that's where Rocket League comes in.

4. Fallout 4

I originally had Fallout 4 pegged as an easy win for Game of the Year (GOTY) 2015. When I first started playing it, I was convinced that this prediction would prove correct. Unfortunately, over the course of 80 to 100 hours, I lost the fire that used to keep me thinking about Fallout games when I wasn't playing them.

3. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3, like Fallout 4, was a game I thought would be GOTY material. And much like Fallout 4, it's fatal flaws kept it from making the top of the list. Perhaps the most offensive flaw for me was the ridiculously low amount of experience points you could earn from battle.

2. SOMA

I typically hate walking simulators and puzzle games. So, SOMA making it to the number 2 slot in my top 5 list should absolutely shock you.

1. Axiom Verge

There is a word that I believe perfectly describes Axiom Verge. Mastery. Tom Happ took everything that was great about the Metroidvania formula and came about as close to perfecting it as I believe any developer could have.

With Christmas right around the corner, these games would be an excellent addition to any gift list.
