2I’ve been following this game for quite some time on Twitter and didn’t really need a demo to tell me that it’s gonna be pretty cool. From what I’d seen before playing, I figured the game was effectively “Action Space Lemmings” and that’s exactly what I got.
Moons of Darsalon has you taking charge of a group of stranded Astronauts (Darsonauts!) and trying to lead them back to base. There’s all sorts of hazards along the way from simple platforming & associated puzzles (fall damage is pretty fierce in this game), to hostile aliens.
You have some simple commands that you can issue to your Darsonauts such as “Follow Me”, “Move [Left/Right]”, or “Wait” and whoever’s nearby will try to obey as best they can. Various obstacles stand in their path such as darkness which prevents them from seeing where they need to go (and there’s various tools like a Flashlight you can use to light the way).
The game’s developer (Dr. Kucho!) also happens to be a DJ and seems to have a knack for catchy chiptunes. The music is great and meshes with its (also great) older-school pixelated aesthetic.
