Psycron’s a late-comer to my recent Steam demo spree, thanks to Blacryu for pointing it out. I’ve been itching for more Metroidvanias that lean more on the Metroid side (more shooty than sword-ey and preferably leaning into the Sci Fi/Aliens stuff -- effectively the original definition for “Search Action”), so this was a nice find.

While Psycron’s relatively simple in the demo, it overall plays well and shows competency with all of the Search Action basics from finding powerups & secrets, etc. I think there could stand to be a bit better pacing for the demo area (there’s a couple of long stretches between interesting moments) and the demo area could use a bit more enemy variety as well. The trailer and screenshots on the Steam page both show a bunch of more interesting stuff, and that’s what has me intrigued and looking forward to the game’s release.
