JFG JamyzGenius - Papitas6 - Roblox UGC Wave2 - Concepts for Accessories - March 2022 Wave
This video shows my second wave of concepts for the UGC application for Roblox. I wanted to give it a try a second time and decided to make two new items.
The video showcases pretty much my default workflows for items like these. I also sometimes do stuff for Unreal and rarely for Unity but I can make 3D assets for these engines too. I wanted to share this video here in YouTube so maybe something of this can be or is helpful to someone out there wanting to try out an application to UGC or wanting to make something similar. PROCESS TO MAKE AN UGC ITEM - Written in 2022
1) I make a concept or you can do an idea, I try to draw it to make it more precise
2) I get into the 3D modeling part, make the model and texture
3) I then bring everything into Roblox Studio
4) Iknosabuk helped me with this part because it requires some tweaks inside studio. This time and after more research I found out that to test the item, it works well with Welds inside the Holder part, check method at the video.
5) Then you package/export the files into .rbxm I remember well and save it into a .zip to organize them. Note the .rbxm should weigh less than 2mb in total or so for all of them.
6) Also be sure to either record yourself doing the item or you can do like templates of your progress to show in the application. Max size for developmental files is 50mb.
7) You fill the application for ugc, it closes on April 1st 2022, it comes in waves. Update from last wave attempt: I thought it was long but after filling it the second time, it took like 5 minutes or so with all the final files.
8) Also if you have any kind of portfolio, be sure to have a link or stills so you can upload them to the application too. I remember there was a section that needed that. I linked my ArtStation portfolio but may develop a UGC later down the road.
9) After everything is ready, you submit the application and that is pretty much it. May take some months for their reply. Be sure to make your best effort if you can. I honestly sent some lazy stuff in the first wave hehe.
