Patch 6.08 job changes are fully released and this is a condensed summary of the job changes you can expect to see logging into the game now. A lot of these changes are amazing and were very much needed, some of them-- or rather the lack of some changes however are sorely felt.

So first up is that the paladin is getting significant buffs to their new ranged combo so blade of faith, truth and valor all getting extremely high buffs, which you can expect to see these buffs reflected once every 60 second. Faith was buffed by 170, truth by 150 and valor by 160.




Better known as a 480 potency gain every minute. Now expacion is an off GCD ability they use every 30 seconds, and is buffed by 40 so 80 more potency there every minute. Which is a total of 560 more potency per minute. This is going to bring the paladin closer in line with the other tanks for sure!

Next up is warrior’s tomahawk ability was buffed with 50 more potency, allowing warrior to um. Spam Tomahawk for more damage from afar when they are dodging mechanics and can’t stay glued to a target.

Now monk’s phantom rush ability got a potency buff by 150 likely just this touch more damage to bring it more in line with reaper who it’s currently like neck and neck with.

Now dragoon has had more than potency buff changes, dragon sight has had it’s range extended to 30 yards to cast and now doesn’t have the range requirement. Um. That’s more than just basic quality of life, that’s fantastic because I know a lot of dragoons were even using dragon sight on a tank rather than a ranged DPS. Big big perk.

Now potency buffs to their basic rotations raiden thrust, heavens thrust and chaotic spring will bring the dragoon up a significant margin, and then their finisher stardiver was also buffed by 120 potency. Dragoon’s sure being stepped up to reduce this gap that’s for darn sure!

Next up is ninja with significant potency buffs sprinkled through their basic combo abilities, and then a 100 potency boost to hyosho ranryu. Just giving the ninja the little bit more oomph they needed.

And last melee DPS up is samurai which has had their core abilities hakze, jinpu and shifu all buffed by 30 potency and they will use these quite a bit so a higher baseline rotational output. Then Ogi Namikiri and Keshi Namikiri has been boosted by 100 and 150 potency respectively making those heavy hitting skills still hit really heavy.

Looking at ranged DPS we’re seeing some potency buffs here.

I’ll start with the good. Dancer has had buffs to cascade, fountain, reverse cascade and fountainfall all buffed-- and these are major mainstay abilities all buffed by 40 potency per. Now technical finish also got a 120 potency buff making that 2 minute cooldown’s zesty spike that much stronger. Overall, dancer has a lot more kick. A lot more from all these buffs.

Now machinist is next and saw what I will risk saying is not enough buffs to drill, air anchor and chain saw. Each got a 20 potency increase, the problem is that these are all cooldowns and not mainstay spammed abilities. Like chain saw is 60 seconds, air anchor 40 seconds and drill 20 seconds. I really stand by what I said in my last video in that I’m still not sure why I should pick machinist over bard and now the supercharged dancer. But I said my concerns in that video and these small buffs do not in any way ease that concern of mine.

Lastly for magical DPS we’re looking at the summoner getting buffs to fountain of fire from phoenix, astral impulse from bahamut and ruby rite from ifrit-- not major buffs but considering these are spammed every 60 seconds this will certainly add up.

Black mage is also getting pretty decent buffs to fire 3 and 4 and blizzard 3 and 4. As well as their big payoff xenoglossy getting a significant 100 potency boost. Considering how fire 4 scales with the black mage’s fire scaling and how often they spam it yeah this 10 potency boost is deceptive and will really add up! Shoving it significantly higher in the DPS category combined together.
