World of Warcraft is getting two HUGE changes that make me VERY EXCITED for the future of the game. Cross-Faction play between the Horde and the Alliance factions as well as the removal of boosting. I'm excited! Let's talk!

Some of the biggest changes world of warcraft could possibly get have actually arrived. And this is not clickbait, first off boosting communities are being banned and secondly they are enabling cross faction play.

Yeah really. And I am actually a bit excited. I could have shoved this video out yesterday as soon as I found out I wanted to actually sit down and think how I felt on this rather than do standard social media explosion. I think this is genuinely great news.

But let’s temper our reactions before I say another thing. These are two huge and are tremendously huge movements that make me highly optimistic about how the state of the game will improve from here. But these aren’t all the improvements I want to see, not by a long shot. I have a lot to say on that, but let’s start off with talking about cross faction.

When I told my boyfriend about cross faction play he genuinely thought I was trolling and that it wouldn’t happen even I thought the same. There has always been this fossil of the past where we have this one faction versus another, which at one point may have made sense. But at this point of the genre, and with how games have evolved, really began to be an overall damaging and to be blunt toxic to the playerbase mechanic-- this faction divide.

Final Fantasy 14 doesn’t have this concept, but imagine if you had it where catgirls, viera, hrothgars, and roes could play together, but they could not play together with au’ra, humans or lalafels. That’s ridiculous. Especially to us in 14.

Faction divide is something I’ve cited in my own videos about world of warcraft over and over again. Why introduce an artificial barrier between your playerbase that makes it more difficult to get friends, complete content and have a good time?

It just didn’t make sense and lead me to intense amounts of frustration when I tried to play alliance.

I had intensely fewer options for who I could raid with to the point where doing much mythic raiding was difficult, and I found that due to how exclusive these alliance raiding groups were that they were honestly intensely more toxic than my experience trying them on Horde. Which people may say that’s just my bias, but that’s my experience and makes sense cause scarcity and exclusivity can bring out the worst in a flying off the handle narcissist that needs to be reminded this is all just video games. Afterall, where else will people go? To the like 5 other alliance groups? Horde simply had a much larger selection.

And this extended fully into an activity I primarily wanted to focus on myself, mythic plus. Basically harder dungeon content, something I cannot get in final fantasy 14. My experience on getting mythic plus groups on Alliance was miserable.

So miserable. There were few groups, and they highly sought after specific meta compositions and because there were so few groups well I spent more time in that flying bronze called oribos than doing anything else.

Miserable. Utterly miserable. It forced me to make a horde character on area 52 just so I could have an easier time getting groups, and then I had to grab my boyfriend and yard him over just to play with me and overall it was a genuinely frustrating experience.

And from there it began to roll into oh you can’t play with this friend and me because they are alliance and I went Horde and it became death by a thousand cuts really. Me just wanting to randomly do a +11 key just for laughs and fun to blow time before raid became an arduous and to be honest stressful process.

My actual moment I snapped and quit world of warcraft was after a series of failed attempts to get into a mythic plus key run spending a few hours in oribos on my worgen BM hunter and then I tried on my worgen resto druid. Yeah. That didn’t work for me.
