Over the last two years, social games have exploded in North America and Europe in the same way that online games became the dominant force in Asia almost a decade ago. In the West, social games have quickly evolved, seeing high-speed rise and fall of distribution channels and platforms, entirely new business models and innovations evolving almost overnight and a greater emphasis on business intelligence changing the face of the entire PC and console-centric games industry. Facebook has become the de facto platform for most Western social and casual game development, but there's much more to life, including alternative social sites, web and mobile ecosystems. Michael Kalkowski, co-founder and creative director of GameDuell, will present the company's vision on the future of social games from a European perspective, including learnings taken from GameDuell's cross-platform efforts. Michael will be discussing the most important changes of the last year, near-future trends that will affect the industry and ways that Asian game developers can utilize this information.
