Back with more Kerbal Space Program First Contract from the surface of Minmus.

We landed on the surface of Minmus in the Great Flats last time and gathered all the science that we could. So we plan to fly to more biomes to gather more science. Out first target is is a nearby hill that will either be slopes or lowlands. We then lift off and head for the hill.

We get to the hill, and the landing site is a bit of a slope to it, but not severely enough to abort. We touchdown safely and find we are in the slopes biome. We have gathered some science from here previously, but not with the instruments on the ship, so we gather as much as we can.

We the aim for an area to the south west that should be a highlands. We lift off and burn for the new site. Landing goes ok, and we find ourselves in the highlands as planned! So we gather all the science we can, and plan to go for the south pole as we are rather close.

We lift off again and head south, planning to land on a hill near the terminator. The flight is uneventful, but the landing is a bit hard at a bit over 2 m/s. We start to gather data, but find that we are in a slopes biome. With the sun barely peaking over the hills, we got further south on the other side of a big hill.

This landing was really rough, with the ship hitting the surface hard enough to bounce! With the sun just peaking over the horizon though, we find ourselves in the poles biome and we gather all the science we can!

Now that all our science instruments are full, it is time to head back to the station to process and send back the data. We lift off to the north and get into an orbit at about 10 km. We then correct our inclination to closely match the station's orbit. Because we are in a lower orbit, we catch up to the station in a bit over one orbit, and burn to get within 700 meters of it. We begin to approach the station, and then have the station turn to face use, although the station is hard to maneuver with the big launch stage still attached. Our initial docking attempt misses, but we eventually line up and dock.

Next episode will be processing the science and returning to the surface to gather more science!
