We are back in Kerbal Space Program First Contract continuing our second mission to Minmus!

We pick up after our initial burn to Minmus and prepare for a correction burn to get a good intercept. We want to save the fuel for our main KS-25x4 engine for a contract to test it in Minmus orbit, so we activate our 4 LV-N engines on the 'science station' for this burn. The burn should take a bit over 2 minutes, but as we start the burn, the engines start to overheat, so we have to throttle down to about 80% so the burn takes about 3 minutes. We stop burning when the Minmus periapsis is about 33km.

We then drift out the intercept minmus. Once we get there, we find out that we will be orbiting in the opposite direction than we would want to. We decide to get into orbit first, run the engine test for the contract, and attempt to fix the orbit later. So we plan a burn to get us into orbit, which shows as about 3 1/2 minutes. At just after the appointed time, we start the LV-N engines to get us into orbit.

Disaster! I was attempting to watch the clock and make sure we were aimed correctly, I forgot that the engines overheated easily, and left them throttled to full! They exploded, but didn't damage the rest of the craft. Trying to figure you what to do, I start to activate the lander's engines, but I notice they will either be blocked but the fuel tanks on the station module, or wind up damaging the station. So I activate the main KS-25x4 engine and use that to complete the burn, which it does easily with fuel remaining.

We complete 1/2 an orbit until we are at the correct altitude for the contract test, which we complete. With the remaining fuel, we decide to attempt to reverse our orbit since the main engine has so much thrust. We slow almost to a stop and start going in the correct direction, but we run out of fuel in the main engine. We transfer some from the science station, and continue the burn. We nearly get into orbit, but run out of fuel again. We transfer some more, and finish getting into orbit in the correct direction.

We gather a bit of science in orbit, process it, and beam it back to KSC. We then prepare to head for a landing in an unexplored area. We undock from the station module and rename it. We plan a maneuver and do a burn to aim for one of the nearby flats.

As we come over the flat, we stop our horizontal velocity and begin to fall the final 4 km to the surface. Our ship perform really well, and touches down at about 0.5 m/s with 90% of our fuel left!

We gather the science available, and do an EVA to get a surface sample and plant a flag. Planting the flag completed another contract that we had. We have one additional contract to fulfill, testing the launch escape system while landed at Minmus. It is attached to a decoupler, so both it and the decoupler activate at the same time. it flies up and away flipping into the distance 14 km away before it crashes into the surface.

We finish up by looking at the map for possible places to go next time for biomes we haven't been at yet.
