With the huge number of time clocks available in this level, you might guess that we should collect as many clocks as possible. However, this is not actually the case. For some reason, collecting more than two time clocks in a level automatically nullifies your speed bonus. It's a weird glitch that deserves further examination, because Bagel Brothers is the sole exception to the glitch. To illustrate this, Highwater Pass I has a speed bonus of 60 seconds. Collecting 2 time clocks in 40 seconds will give 8:20 plus a speed bonus. However, collecting 3 time clocks in the same amount of time will give 9:xx but *no speed bonus*. No matter the reason why it exists, this glitch should be avoided at all costs because you'll lose more than 8,000 points, as opposed to just collecting 2 clocks.
Critical times (see Blue Lake Woods I description) were established at 5:58, 8:48, and 8:21. Helmet reset glitch (see Blue Lake Woods II Plethora Cheat description) with Berzerker is necessary to use in this level for achieving the 8:48 critical time. It's still easy to qualify for the 5:58 critical time, but without the glitch activated, there is no longer a running start after the first clock is collected. Since collecting a Berzerker helmet would cancel all the speed you once had, that could actually mean the difference between an 8:47 versus an 8:48.
Afterwards, other than a few scattered tough jumps and enemy bounces, there's really nothing else that stands in the player's way too much for achieving 8:21 at the flag. Diamond powers are also not required for use anywhere in this level, and I actually advise against using any.
