This is a "minimalist" (low points) run of the newer version of King's Quest I, ending with a total of 52 points.

This was played in DosBox at 3,000 cycles, except for one particular screen: the one with the leprechaun guards, where I temporarily set the emulator speed to 6,000. The reason I did this is because when I was playing the game natively on my PC (no emulators like DosBox or ScummVM) at the fastest game speed, I was able to get around the guards without having the clover in my possession (and pretty consistently at that). For some reason, when I tried this in DosBox and ScummVM, it seemed impossible to replicate without increasing the CPU cycles (it *might* be possible without having to mess with that, but it seems quite difficult if so). Even then, it's still a bit of a pain to actually bypass the guards.

This run was inspired by MrWhitman's minimalist run of the game, but before finding out the clover could be skipped, I noted that his run obtained two unnecessary points from climbing the tree to get the golden egg. The only two treasures that you can lose all the points that were given from obtaining them are the golden walnut and the magic ring (the pouch gives you 1 point for looking in the stump - a necessary action to obtaining it). Other than that and skipping the clover (2 points), it's pretty much the same stuff as in his run. However, I will say there might be a possibility of skipping even more points. As a kid, I remember somehow clipping out of the leprechaun's cave, without the need to eat the mushroom. Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this behavior, but if my memory's not failing me (who knows =p), it'd mean 3 more points skipped (1 for getting the mushroom, and 2 for eating it to fit through the small hole).
