King's Quest: Whisper can't do it
108I've been playing the new King's Quest game and have been enjoying it immensely. It details the previously unheard adventures of the eventual king of Daventry through the storytelling of the now aged king to his granddaughter. It retains same humour of the originals, combined with great music, storytelling and a compelling atmosphere that was made with love and care. Quirky, lighthearted and full of puns, it has throwback references and nods to the original games while telling it's own tales.
This little segment comes after you've beaten one of the hopefuls in a duel, one they were heavily favoured to win on account of Graham being neither fast nor strong. Despite the odds, Graham secures the victory and with it, breaks the confident facade of one who lives for his image.
Two segments placed together in this video go through the general dialogue options when you talk to the defeated knight, lines that always make me smile. What's not included here is all the dialogue you can get when you try to use items on various NPCs; there's a staggeringly large amount of it, including multiple reads for the same line depending on which version of an item you offer up to someone. A lot of care and attention went into looking at all the different possible items that can be shown to NPCs or tried in certain situations, the resulting dialogue or statement the reward that many point and click adventure game fans strive to see.
But enough about that, let's talk about Whisper. Whisper loves people talking about him in the description boxes of Youtube videos. Whisper loves people getting his voice stuck in their heads but most of all, Whisper loves Whisper.
