192Whoever made the structures that litter the ring didn't plan for the possibility of locking themselves out of a critical locations. Perhaps they had some kind of master key that'd unlock any facility. Maybe the doors opened automatically when a pass was nearly. Or maybe those that made it didn't need to use the doors at all.
All we know is that we know very little concerning the ring. Who built it? For what purpose was it built? How does it work? Why do the Covenant think it's a weapon? We have none of the answers and only questions, perhaps getting to the control point of the ring will help illuminate Master Chief and Cortana as to it's purpose.
First, we need to figure out where the location of the control room is. For that, we'll need to find the facility and gain access to it.
